Grand scale hunting portrait by self-taught artist Henry Aeschbacher of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, dated 1919. Exquisite handmade bark frame in the Adirondack style. Collected from the artist’s family.
Born July 13, 1893, Henry Aeschbacher served as a private in the US Army during WW1, fighting in the battles of Alsace and Meuse Argonne. He mustered out on June 23, 1989 at Camp Grant. He was recognized as a Roman Catholic and educated through the 8th grade, according to the historical records of the Milwaukee Public Library and American War Mothers.
